One of the leading international law firms is seeking a Master Mariner to join the team in South East England in a succession role to become one of their marine investigators.

The successful candidate will have proven command experience on a variety of vessels, in particular, bulk carriers and general cargo ships. You will be handling the technical and legal elements of their marine claims. You will have the ability to apply law and also have a thorough understanding of how the cases are run.

You will carry out casualty investigations, participate in external presentations, provide an in-house consultancy service and assist partners with case acquisition and business development.  You will be expected to fly to the scenes of casualties at very short notice where you will gather information, attend official enquiries and appoint and brief lawyers, surveyors and other experts.

This person will be organised, articulate, have excellent writing skills and negotiation skills, be able to prepare thoroughly for meetings and be able to recommend commercial solutions and alternative courses of action.
