Our client is a leading international shipping company who is looking for a Technical Manager for their office in the UK. The role is part of the Fleet Services Group which provides support to the Fleet Operations and Fleet Business Development activities. In this role you will provide a variety of support expertise that will focus on longer term strategies and projects as well as providing input and support to the Superintendents.

The position will:

- Establish, develop and maintain all aspects of the fleet maintenance strategies

- Ensure that the planned maintenance system database is practical as well as comprehensive

- Treat Health, Safety and Environment as a main priority

- Work closely with all members of the fleet, ship and shore, to enhance the maintenance undertaken on board the fleet

- Develop and maintain relationships with vendors and industry professionals

- Ensure cost leadership practices are embedded in research and solutions

- Participate in budget preparation, lifecycle and new business projections

- Support the Fleet Group and teams with technical expertise and advice

- Develop and maintain a safety critical system, equipment, component and spares list

- Develop and maintain maintenance strategies which include critical equipment, hull and propeller, dry docking, ballast tanks and obsolete equipment so that all maintenance policies are aligned across the fleet

- Undertake a review on PMS to optimise maintenance intervals and scope, align with contracts and embed best practices

- Monitor equipment failures, look for any trends and work with OEM's to improve reliability

- Ensure manufacturer's service letters are tracked, actions flagged to teams and all revisions to PMS and Dry-dock specifications are made

To be eligible to apply my client are looking for someone that has the following:

- Experience in identifying safety critical systems, equipment and spares based on a safety case/Hazid/Hazop

- Experience in establishing, maintaining and developing all aspects of the maintenance strategies and philosophies for critical and non critical equipment

- Experience with NSE maintenance management system or similar

- Marine/Mechanical engineer background, with hands on experience either on tankers, Gas carriers or offshore operations (i.e. oil platforms)

- Sailing experience as a Senior Engineer on board tankers or gas carriers is preferred but not essential

- Good understanding of class requirements 

- EU working rights
