Thorco Projects Dry Cargo announced today that it has established offices in Rio de Janeiro and Houston, staffed with employees transferred across from its existing projects cargo teams in both cities.

Morten Thaarup is based in Houston, and Michael Jorgensen and Jean Noronha are stationed in Rio de Janeiro.

Thorco Projects Dry Cargo was set up in Copenhagen last December to focus bulkers in the 20,000-dwt to 35,000-dwt segment.

“Thorco Projects Dry Cargo has been well-received by the market. Due to an ever-increasing activity, we are required to expand even further,” explained Thorco CEO and partner Thomas Mikkelsen.

“Moreover, establishing a presence in the US and Brazil allows us to be closer to clients and strengthens our position in the Atlantic market,”he added.

In the two months since it first launched, Thorco Projects Dry Cargo has expanded rapidly and currently controls approximately 15 bulk carriers. All are chartered in, with the exact number varying according to the company’s requirements.
