Director - Technical Cooperation Division

The International Maritime Organization (IMO) is seeking a senior professional for the role of Director of our Technical Cooperation Division with the ability to lead and guide the development and promotion of innovative strategies and policies for the Organization’s technical cooperation programme. The incumbent will work and advise the Secretary-General and Member Governments on strategic and policy issues and trends impacting on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG’s).

The Director of the Technical Cooperation Division shall possess strong leadership skills and experience in managing a diverse and multicultural team. Moreover, the ideal candidate must have proven expertise in providing authoritative advice to chief executives and large teams; the ability to clearly and articulately present concepts and strategies on a broad range of issues as well as experience in resource mobilization as well as project and programme management.

To succeed in this leadership role, the candidate must have a track record of achievement in senior executive positions; demonstrated management ability to lead medium to large operations and teams and a capacity to establish and maintain strategic networks and partnerships with Member States, United Nations agencies and other international partners with political judgement and cultural sensitivity.

IMO is a United Nations specialised agency based in London. IMO is the global standard-setting authority for the safety, security and environmental performance of international shipping. Its main role is to create a regulatory framework for the shipping industry that is fair and effective, universally adopted and universally implemented.
