MARINE SUPERINTENDENT LPG– BW Houston Office

BW Gas have exclusively partnered with Faststream Recruitment to source a LPG Marine Superintendent for their Houston office.

A Marine Superintendent is responsible to support BW vessels in any way to ensure that they are operating safely in compliance with requirements and at all times are acceptable to charterers. The work includes both support to vessels and commercial departments from office as well as onboard activities to promote company excellence including auditing, inspections, guidance, training, campaigns and other relevant activities.

The Marine Superintendents are today organised in BW Fleet Management offices Oslo and Singapore. BW are now looking for a new colleague to be permanently localised in BW’s office in Houston. The new Marine Superintendent – Houston will support both Oslo and Singapore offices, but report to BW Oslo office. The existing Marine Superintendents have dedicated ship responsibility, while the Marine Superintendent in Houston will support all vessels in close cooperation with the main responsible Marine Superintendent.

The selected candidate will be given responsibilities based on skills and experience from the following:

Responsibilities:

  • Support BW vessels calling Houston / US primarily in addition to Caribbean and rest of US on day to day Marine functions in close cooperation with the both Marine and Commercial teams in Oslo and Singapore.
  • Assist in USCG inspections and matters, SIRE/CDI inspections and other external inspections and audits
  • Perform internal ship inspections and audits for BW
  • Handle risk assessments and other support requests from vessels US daytime
  • Support in incident investigations to BW vessels in US / Caribbean
  • Actively communicate with the crews including briefing and training them on Marine matters.
  • Participate in and take a lead as necessary in development of onboard training programs, and perform training sessions onboard
  • Participate or take a leading role in campaigns
  • Maintain relationships with Authorities, Partners and Customers in the region

Qualifications:

  • Be familiar with applicable rules, regulations and industry requirements
  • Experience of sailing and managing LPG vessels
  • Relevant work experience, minimum 5 years in leading position (onboard or ashore)
  • Technical skills related to gas carrier / oil tanker ship operation
  • Good command of the English language, oral and written
  • Permit to work in US
