Chartering Manager - Dry Bulk, Dubai.
 
Our client is a leading commodity business with significant growth ambitions to triple it’s current cargo volume within the short term.  As a result of this major growth aspiration our client is hiring for the newly created role of Chartering / Freight Manager – Dry Bulk to be based within their expanding Dubai office. 
 
The successful candidate will:

• Develop and deliver freight strategies.
• Lead new business-development activity.
• Build and maintain excellent relationships with customers, vendors and stakeholders.

 Key Accountabilities:

• Research and analyze global dry bulk shipping market (Handy's +) performing freight market modelling and creating / maintaining regular reports with commentary on trends to capitalize on shipping cycles and market volatility reducing overall shipping cost .
• Mapping of commodity front / back-hauls, identifying strategic flows which could impact freight strategy.
• Lowering freight spend through optimal shipment sizes: Most economical routes, leveraging freight differentials, cross commodity parcelling, freight trading, capitalizing on shipping cycles and contract negotiations.
• Management of freight tender process of dry bulk cargo including preparing tender documents and techno-commercial evaluation of proposals.
• Commercial negotiation of Charter Party and freight contract T's and Cs’.
• Develop / maintain shipping company profiles via a pre-qualification database and establish good relationships with reputable and reliable carriers.

Qualifications, Skills & Experience:

• Hold a Bachelor’s degree or equivalent qualification in shipping, trade, logistics or a related specialization.
• You will be an experienced dry bulk charterer with a strong, established network of global industry-wide contacts - As a guide, you will have a minimum of 5 years experience within a similar role with comparable accountabilities.
• You will have advanced analysis and modeling skills.
• You will be a confident communicator and influencer with a passion for negotiation and deal-generation.
• Excellent IT skills are essential.

Preference will be given to candidates with a proven dry bulk chartering / freight background within international Metals and Mining.  You are likely to be currently working for either a raw materials producer, commodity trading organisation or major dry bulk ship owner / operator with aspirations to develop beyond your current level.
