About the role
The role is responsible for managing day to day operations of the Swire Bulk Fleet of owned and chartered vessels (at sea and in port). In conjunction with the bunker desk, manage the bunker requirements of the owned and chartered fleet. The role will be reporting into the Global Bulk Operations Manager who is based in Singapore.

Some of the key responsibilities and accountabilities:
 Liaise with regional offices (chartering and operations) to ensure the smooth operation of the owned and operated fleet
 To increase efficiency of the fleet at sea and port
 Manage and direct the team executing the efficient operations of the owned and chartered fleet of bulk carriers
 Intimate knowledge of port operations associated with bulk trade routes  Ensure the smooth loading / discharging operations, expediting vessels in port, liaising with port authorities and coordinate with owners/charterers operations staff
 Liaise with regional offices, masters and the operations team to ensure max intakes and best stow, and that port operations are optimised
 Monitor bunker requirements of all the dry bulk fleet ensuring that the bunker planning for each voyage is appropriate
 Manage port agency and survey costs, and costs for other vendors
 Responsibility for closing of all third party TC in vessel files, port files, DA’s and any other third party services
 Liaise with CNCo insurance, charterers, shippers and receivers to minimise and solve
 Review and implement procedures for reporting executed fixtures / various vessel performances / explain underlying variances
 Enforcing operating procedures across the owned and operated fleet and through the operations department in order to comply with the highest standards in our operating areas

Skills / experience required:
 Minimum 10 years’ experience in dry bulk
 Extensive understanding of bulk shipping including technical issues such as stow plans & vessel stability
 Experience with Veson/IMOS an advantage
 Master Mariner or Chief Engineer with necessary sea going experience on bulk or liner vessels an advantage
 Highly developed organisation skills with ability to apply reasoning and judgment that represents the Company’s best interests
