Marine Operations and QMS Manager

VRCA manages the port waters of Geelong and Hastings and is responsible for the maintenance and development of commercial shipping channels, the maintenance of navigation aids and the control of commercial shipping activities.

Based in Geelong, an opportunity has arisen for a qualified marine professional to join VRCA as our Marine Operations and QMS Manager.  We are seeking a high calibre individual who has a mix of industry experience and technical competence that will be recognised by Transport Safety Victoria for the purpose of licencing.

Key areas of responsibility in the role will include:

  • Ensuring the safe navigation of all vessels in the port waters of Geelong and Hastings;
  • Coordinating marine activities, providing expert advice to port users and developing strategies for the provision of essential services to the ports;
  • Developing and improving VRCAs quality management systems and procedures, ensuring all control mechanisms are in place to manage risks.

We are looking for someone with a minimum 8 years’ experience as a marine controller or Harbour Master.  You will have a Master Class I seagoing qualification and an excellent knowledge of state and federal legislation within the marine industry.  Your track record operating a safe and risk managed work environment will see you comfortable with all safety, quality, risk and environmental procedures.

You will bring strong communication and interpersonal skills, and have the natural ability to build positive, effective relationships both internally and externally.
