Head of Technical Operations

Höegh Autoliners is one of the world’s leading Ro/Ro operators, and we operate approximately 50 vessels in 12 trade routes in global trade systems alone or in partnerships, with about 3,000 port calls annually. We are also engaged in regional trade directly or in Joint Ventures in Europe and the Americas, engaging 16 vessels in 7 regional trade routes.

With a fleet designed for maximum flexibility, we are able to cater for a wide variety of cargo. Our customers range from global vehicle manufacturers to producers of high and heavy construction equipment and other rolling and non-rolling stock. The Company has approximately 450 employees ashore and 1500 seafarers. Höegh Autoliners is privately owned by Leif Höegh & Co (61.25 per cent) and A.P.Møller – Maersk (38.75 per cent)

Höegh Autoliners in Oslo is seeking a Head of Technical Operations who will be responsible to follow up contracted Ship Managers concerning cost efficiency, optimal service in accordance with the respective ShipMan contracts and relevant rules and regulations. The Head of Technical Operations will also be responsible for setting the standards for technical operation and technical standards of the Höegh Autoliners’ controlled fleet.

Main responsibilities

• Control, follow up and support the relevant Ship Managers
• Secure a short and long term maintenance philosophy of owned vessels
• Budget follow up
• Oversee all technical projects including dockings
• Secure continous improvement within the technical management
• Lead technical projects together with relevant technical managers  
• Follow up that the Ship Managers provide the most cost efficient life time cost for each Höegh Autoliners’ vessel
• Draw on Risk Assessment data to ensure experience across the Ship Managers and ensuring that all Ship Managers adopt the same standard for Höegh Autoliners’ operated vessels

Qualifications

• Degree in Technical Maritime studies/Marine Technology
• Minimum 10 years of experience as Technical Superintendent/Fleet Manager/Technical Project Manager within the Ship Management/shipping industry - with proven ability to drive change
• Proven leadership abilities and skills
• Experience in risk assessment
