A Day In The Life Typically Includes:

The successful candidate will share responsibility procuring marine freight for Koch Minerals’ internal spot and forward dry bulk cargoes.  This currently includes the products of petroleum coke, sulphur and biomass. The job involves providing daily freight quotes and chartering vessels ranging from Coasters to Capes on a worldwide basis. Other responsibilities include developing an actionable point of view, assisting with the growth strategies of the Freight group, and continuing to develop disciplined physical trading strategies. You will be part of a close, engaging, dynamic and social team where each day will see different interaction with both internal and external counterparties. There are regular opportunities to travel for meetings and conferences.

What You Will Need:


-Experience as broker, owner or charterer in dry bulk shipping.

-Extensive chartering knowledge to include freight rate negotiation and a deep understanding of charter party terms.

-Necessary people skills to work in a diverse environment, acting as an interface between commodity traders and ship owners.

-The mentality to take responsibility and make timely commercial decisions.

-Good organizational and communication skills with the ability to challenge and show humility.

What Will Put You Ahead?

Preferred Qualifications:

-Previous work experience with a well-respected shipping company

-A good understanding of voyage estimating and laytime.

-Ability to be proactive to save time/money

-Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited institution.

-Member or Fellow of the Institute of Chartered Shipbrokers
