Marine Coordinator

The Marine Coordinator is responsible for coordinating and managing the safe operations of ExxonMobil affiliate owned and chartered vessels. The Marine Coordinator role has global responsibility for voyage coordination and US responsibility for transportation coordination.

Job Role Responsibilities

The primary job functions of the Transportation Coordinator are as follows:

Ensure all barges (including load and discharge terminal) are properly vetted prior to load

Ensure economic transportation is obtained and advise on inland equipment costs/rates, schedules, and operational matters through daily updates

Identify and nominate suitable equipment for named cargo and ports

Identify and seek opportunities for cost reduction through optimization of equipment fleet

Input data and track equipment in SeaRiver maritime-related systems

Liaise with SeaRiver marine quality assurance team on equipment approvals and facilitate closure of gaps

Serve as the first contact with third parties for all contractual related administration

Protect affiliate interests (speed/heating/cleaning, etc) while covering unexpected operational upset requirements and facilitating general interest equipment deployment across circuit

Manage inland movements of ExxonMobil titled cargoes and some non-titled cargoes

Seek and negotiate spot charters including draft of initial charter order

Work with sites to support and coordinate long-range planning and refinery turnarounds to ensure adequate equipment coverage and signal accuracy

The primary job functions of the Voyage Coordinator are as follows:

Appoint / nominate port agents

Arrange and optimize supply, delivery of bunkers for time chartered vessels

Ensure compliance with corporate policies, industry standards, and government regulations

Formulate and issue appropriate voyage orders and letters of indemnity (as necessary)

Provide timely and accurate reports on vessel movements and performance including anticipated arrival and departure timing, in-port operations, and other vessel/voyage data

Provide timely vessel and voyage related operations information to internal stakeholders, vessel agents, and ship brokers to ensure vessel utilization and safety objectives are achieved

Maintain updated and accurate information in relevant voyage accounting systems to ensure freight and other voyage related charges are processed and paid in a timely manner

Serve as the primary point of contact for all vessel related operations (i.e. ship, broker, agents) and initial incident notification

 Job Requirements

Bachelor’s degree from a Maritime University

Disciplines in Marine Transportation, Marine Engineering, International Maritime Business, Logistics, Maritime Administration, or Marine Supply Chain Management preferred

Minimum of 3 years of operations or marine experience

Responsive to out of work calls and priorities

Proficient in the use of computers and Office software (i.e. Microsoft Suite of Programs)
