Term Projects Negotiator / Commercial Advisor

Position will support and provide guidance for a variety of marine related commercial projects, including LNG sales support as required. This may include negotiating and chartering of tanker vessels (crude, products and gas, including LNG) to cover customer requirements always consistent with marine chartering guidelines and coverage strategies as well as general LNG marine commercial support.

Position will be located at the ExxonMobil campus in Spring, TX.

Primary Job Functions:

Negotiation of time charters; establish Commercial Strategy to meet coverage requirement, including:

  • Solicit bids from market via ship brokers or directly from vessel owners
  •  Analyze, evaluate, and select most economical coverage options that meet customer requirements in conjunction with Planning & Business Support Team
  • Negotiate rates, laycans, and detailed contractual terms for vessel charters
  • Secure required vetting, terminal, and any appropriate functional endorsements required to conclude charter
  • Work on various commercial marine projects, including LNG support activities that may include shipping associated support for LNG Sales & Purchase Agreements, LNG use as a marine fuel, and LNG export/import logistics
  • Advise project teams on development of shipping solutions and frameworks in early project phases
  • Provide support as needed to Regional Offices and affiliates regarding marine commercial negotiations and contracting
  •  Provide freight market intelligence to related functions (Global Marine Commercial, Global Marine Optimization, Planning & Business Support) as well as to Crude and Products traders and Chemical’s, Lubes &Petroleum Specialties Business Unit commercial contacts
  •  Propose and implement methods to improve business processes

Job Requirements:

  •  Bachelor’s degree
  •  Minimum of 3 years of marine operations and commercial experience:
  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience chartering vessels or negotiating shipbuilding or time charter contracts

or

  • Minimum of 3 years’ experience with LNG business and sales contracts

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/ Abilities (KSA’s):

  • Marine Transportation or Marine Engineering Bachelor’s degree
  • Effective negotiating skills
  • Strong analytical capability
  • Good commercial judgment
  • Strong project management skills
  • Independent thinking and self-motivati
  • Good communication, presentation and interpersonal skills with the ability to effectively coordinate internal cross-functional activities with various Business Units; needs to work effectively with outside contacts including vessel owners and ship brokers
  •  Ability to manage multiple simultaneous tasks under tight deadlines
