Marine Adviser, International Chamber of Shipping, London

Are you passionate about shaping shipping’s regulatory environment? We are working exclusively with the International Chamber of Shipping who are looking for a Marine Adviser to be based in their London office. This is a great opportunity for you to develop and present policies and get involved at IMO.

Reporting to the Principal Director – Marine and working closely with the Nautical Director you will assist in the development and execution of policies on the technical, operational and environmental regulatory risks that affect international shipping. You will be providing subject matter expertise on navigation, communication, search and rescue. You will actively participate in International Maritime Organization (IMO) Committees and Sub-Committees to represent the interests of the Association’s members – national shipowning organisations.

You must have operational marine knowledge, with a navigation background having sailed to a minimum of 3rd Officer or equivalent. Some operational shore based experience could be beneficial. You must have excellent English language skills be able to produce written papers to a high standard and be able to understand a wide range of issues within the shipping industry, such as marine automation, mooring systems, cyber security and autonomous vessels. You will be able to present the ICS position eloquently and with diplomacy, either one to one, or to an industry conference.
