Dry cargo Vessels’ Operator
STAR BULK (SINGAPORE) PTE. LTD. is seeking a dry cargo Vessels’ Operator to be based in Singapore.
Responsibilities:
- Monitors daily the performance of assigned vessels based on flag, statutory and Company’s requirements regarding speed, consumption and weather conditions.

Appoints cargo or bunker surveyors and port agents and arranges various ship services. Updates position list and books, checks with agents the ship’s prospects and approves D/As.

Approves hire statements or freight invoices including lay-time calculations and assists chartering (cargo quantity/stowage calculations) in describing vessel’s characteristics and authorizes C/P clauses.

Checks pre-stowage plans, loading sequences, passage plans, cargo docs, LOIs, bunker requirements and authorizes bunker purchases.

Issues voyage instructions, ship’s cargo holds preparation instructions and Monitors ship’s cargo holds condition and preparation.

Monitors the actual day-to-day performance and financial expenditure of assigned vessels.

Monitors the actual day-to-day performance and financial expenditure of assigned vessels.

Liaises with the Insurance Department in handling of claims, hazardous situations, accidents and P & I involvement and informs it in case of vessel breaking International Navigation Limits and war zones.
Qualifications / Experience:

Minimum Captain Class B License, 5 years sea experience on bulk carriers and 5 years office experience or University degree in shipping, chartering, economics etc. and minimum 10 years office experience in the operations department of a dry cargo shipping company.

English fluency and computer (MS Office / ERP Systems) literacy.

Strong cross-cultural communication skills (i.e., ability to communicate with office, crew etc.)

Strong market knowledge and commercial awareness.
