STAR BULK CARRIERS CORP is seeking an Operations Liaison to be based in Athens.

Responsibilities: 

  1. Monitors communications relevant to the assigned vessels’ voyages, daily operations, orders and employment orders, as those have been performed by the third party managers and intervenes as necessary.
  2. Follows up on fixtures, potential claims and other matters related to the charter parties, freight and hire collection and reviews the main terms slip preparation for each fixture.
  3. Controls all disbursement reports and post fixture activities such as hire statements (Initial, biweekly, consolidated, final), lay time calculations, freight statements, debit/credit notes, and their collection. Also, assures that all the proceedings, reminders and communications have been initiated to the charterers and all outstanding amounts are collected.
  4. Ensures that all disbursement accounts related to time chartered vessels are monitored, that respective amounts are incorporated into the hire statements and issues reminders to charterers when payments are delayed.
  5. Checks the provisional and final results v/s the estimated results in cooperation with the Managers’ accounting department.
  6. Assists on and reviews bunkers arrangements, appointment of ship agents and other ship services required for the employment of the 3rd party managed vessels and assures that the respective Managers follow up daily matters in accordance with the C/P terms.

Qualifications / Experience: 

  1. Captain Class A License.
  2. Diploma in shipping or chartering will be an asset.
  3. Minimum 10 years of relevant experience at the Operations department of a shipping company with bulkers.
  4. Awareness of C/P clauses and claims handling.
  5. Fluency in English.
  6. Computer literate.
  7. Communication & negotiation skills.
