Gearbulk is an international shipping group providing high quality transportation services for various industrial sectors. Founded in 1968 by Kristian Gerhard Jebsen in Bergen, Norway, the company is 51% owned by the Kristian Jebsen family, and 49% owned by Mitsui OSK Lines, based in Japan. In 2017 Gearbulk and Grieg Star established the joint venture G2 Ocean with headquarters in Bergen, Norway.

The group operates the world’s largest fleet of open hatch vessels, specifically designed and equipped to transport unitized cargoes such as forest products, steels and non-ferrous metals and project cargo. Gearbulk is also involved in the transportation of conventional bulk cargoes and in terminal operations.

 

Gearbulk has an ambition to take a leading role in the green shift towards decarbonization of the maritime industry, and as such we are looking for a Project Engineer who will play a vital   part in following up on fleet performance and all projects related to decarbonization.

The job holder will be responsible for assigned projects, ensuring they comply with the defined safety, cost, quality and operational objectives for each project and the overall objectives for the company. Further, understanding of current and future regulations related to environmental legislation and propose suitable projects impacting the vessels’ environmental footprint will be key.

We are looking for a dedicated professional who:

  • Has a passion for vessels and technological development within the shipping industry
  • Project experience with a motivation to contribute to manage the complexity of the decarbonization requirements ahead
  • Has a strong technical understanding
  • Knows how to inspire and challenge to find best possible solutions for the company
  • Is analytical minded with strong interpersonal skills
  • Is well acquainted with relevant laws and regulations

 

The successful candidate should preferably have higher University degree or similar. The company’s international character requires good written and oral English language skills. The role of Project Engineer will report to Project Manager and the position is located in Bergen, Norway.
