In 2017 Gearbulk and Grieg Star established the joint venture G2 Ocean with headquarters in Bergen, Norway.

The group operates the world’s largest fleet of open hatch vessels, specifically designed and equipped to transport unitized cargoes such as forest products, steels and non-ferrous metals and project cargo. Gearbulk is also involved in the transportation of conventional bulk cargoes and in terminal operations.

We are expanding our Technical Team in Bergen and are looking for an experienced Technical Superintendent to join our operational office in Bergen, Norway

As an experienced Technical Superintendent with relevant, strong technical bacground, you will be fully responsible for the safe and efficient technical management of a fleet of ships, including all matters concerning the vessels daily operation. This will include, but is not limited to:

  • Monitoring and supporting all technical matters.
  • Follow up on the day-to-day technical and HSEQ work onboard assigned vessels.
  • Management of vessel budgets and cost.
  • Management of maintenance and dry dockings.
  • Close cooperation with the crewing, insurance, and procurement functions to ensure efficient operational management of the vessels.

We are also looking for a Technical Superintendent Trainee to join our operational office in Bergen.

The trainee role will be an entry-level role into the technical team where you will be trained into becoming an independent Technical Superintendent with the ability to manage a fleet of your own. The first period you will be following and supporting the Technical Superintendents with the relevant day-to-day activities related to operating a vessel. You will also be introduced to the shipping business in a structured way. Traveling onboard the vessels will be a part of the training, to experience the life onboard and understanding the culture onboard a vessel. The trainee period will also include attendance at shipyards abroad during yard stays for periodic surveys and repairs.

For the Trainee role we are looking for graduates with a Master degree from engineering, or other relevant education degree, with an interest in ship management, technical challenges and managing an international crew.
