Tanker Research Analyst - Junior

The Tanker Research Department at Ifchor Galbraiths has an exciting new opportunity for a London based Junior Analyst with some experience in the tanker shipping and / or the oil industry preferred.

Regular duties include:

  • Gathering of market data, database management and data analysis
  • Creating good quality and structured reports for regular publications as well as ad hoc client requests
  • Creation and delivery of internal and external presentations
  • Active participation to develop new areas of research

Ideal candidates will be skilled in following areas:

  • Very organised, with strong and reliable time management skills and a methodical approach to work, as well as high level of reliability
  • Be self-motivated and driven to succeed with a willingness to learn
  • Excellent communication, both verbal and written
  • Ability to detect and rectify irregularities and interpret complex statistical datasets

Experience and Knowledge:

  • Fluent in spoken and written English
  • One to two years of research experience in shipping, tankers or oil industry is desirable
  • Higher level education in subjects such as economics, statistics or shipping desirable
  • Experience with VBA, power query and in data modelling is advantageous
  • High computer literacy including MS Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint is absolutely essential
  • Proven working knowledge of excel functions (V-lookup, Index Match etc) essential
  • Experience in PowerBI is strongly preferable
  • Previous experience with Reuters Refinitiv, Bloomberg, Trigonal Shipbroking Software is desirable
