Chartering Manager - Melbourne

Pacific Basin is one of the world’s leading owners and operators of modern Handysize and Supramax dry bulk ships. We are headquartered and listed in Hong Kong and operate globally with a fleet of over 260 ships trading worldwide. Our team comprises about 5,100 seafarers and over 380 shore staff in 14 key locations around the world. 

As part of our ongoing development, we have decided to recruit a suitable person for the following position:

CHARTERING MANAGER - MELBOURNE
 

REQUIREMENTS

  • A relevant Bachelor’s degree;
  • Chartering professional with minimum 3-4 years’ relevant and demonstrated chartering experience;
  • A thorough understanding of the operational and educational practices, policies and strategies of international ship chartering;
  • Knowledge of the worldwide trading patterns, and demand and supply trends for cargoes, particularly in the Australasia region;
  • Excellent working relationship with shipping operators in Asia;
  • Previous experience with maritime business software systems such as IMOS, Sedna, Shipfix, Portlog is an advantage;
  • Familiarity with the routes and chartering arrangements in Asia Pacific;
  • Dynamic, self-motivated and ambitious team player with a proven track record in chartering;
  • Ability to build strong relationships with customers, brokers and other key industry stakeholders;
  • Excellent communication skills, English language proficiency is essential.

 

JOB SCOPE

  • Negotiation and fixing of spot cargoes and COAs with financial responsibility for fixtures;
  • Managing all aspects of chartering operations such as the procurement of cargoes and the preparation of charter party documentation;
  • Focus on all operating opportunities;
  • Assist the team with cargo/tonnage scheduling as well as marketing cargo/tonnage to wider market;
  • Manage and develop a portfolio of customers both existing and new with the scope of continuing and developing long term customer relationships
  • Work closely with offices, in particular the Pacific Basin offices;
  • Sharing and establishing freight market views.
